Deming Regression Tool

Real Statistics Data Analysis Tool: The Real Statistics Resource Pack provides support for Deming Regression based on the Deming Regression data analysis tool.

Set up

To use this tool for Example 2 of Deming Regression Basic Concepts, press Ctrl-m and choose the Deming Regression from the Reg tab (or from the Regression dialog box if using the original user interface). Next, fill in the dialog box that appears as shown in Figure 1. Make sure to leave the Lambda field empty.

Analysis

After pressing the OK button, we obtain the output shown in Figure 2.

Example 1 output

Figure 2 – Deming Regression analysis

Here, range B4:C5 contains =DRegCoeff(Sheet2!B4:D13,Sheet2!E4:F13,,TRUE), an array formula where it is assumed that the input data from Figure 4 of Deming Regression Basic Concepts is found on Sheet2. =COUNT(Sheet2!E4:F13)-1 is the formula in cell D4.

Cell B10 contains the formula =1-B5 and cell C10 contains the formula =C5. Range B11:C11 contains the worksheet array formula

=TRANSPOSE(DRegIdentity(Sheet2!B4:D13,Sheet2!E4:F13)).

The approach is similar to Example 1 of Deming Regression Basic Concepts. This time, you would need to insert 2.5 in the Lambda field. You could optionally insert the range B3:C13 in Input Range X and leave Input Range Y blank. Figure 3 displays the results. Note that the upper part of the figure is identical to the results in Figure 2 of Jackknifing and the lower part is similar to the results shown on the right side of Figure 1 of Deming Regression Hypothesis Testing.
