Real Statistics Examples Workbooks: 14 Excel workbooks can be downloaded for free. These contain worksheets that implement the various tests and analyses described in the rest of this website.
Quick Access Toolbar (QAT): One way to access the Real Statistics data analysis tools is via the QAT. To accomplish this you need to download a file named RS_QAT.xlsm. Click here to download this file and obtain instructions on how to access the data analysis tools via the QAT.
Hi Charles,
Thank you for creating these useful tools for Excel, and I was wondering if you could make the same tools in 64-bit version? Sometimes, I have a very large dataset (containing large amount of array formulas), and 32-bit Excel can only use 2GB Ram as pointed out at https://support.microsoft.com/en-nz/kb/3066990.
Thanks again for giving us the basic statistics knowledge on this website.
Lu
Lu,
A few people have asked for a 64-bit version, and I will consider implementing this when a receive a larger number of requests.
Charles
Charles,
I too would like to request the 64-bit version. Thanks.
Nathan,
Thanks for your input.
Charles
Charles,
Realstats is a valuable tool. I second the request for developing a realstat plugin that would work with 64-bit version of Excel.
Thanks.
Sourav
Thank you Sourav for your suggestion.

Hi Charles.
I have a question about installation of Excel.
I am using 2011 version of Excel with Mac.
but whenever I try to check the real-estate and solver, “errors over loading dll”comes up and I can’t see real stats installed.
How can I deal with it?
thanx and this is a very nice program BTW.
Sandra,
Are you saying that you can’t check both RealStats 2011 and Solver?
Charles
Yes, I tried to check both at the same time at first, which didn’ work well so checked solver first and real stats next. but it didn’t work, too. I checked real stats only but it didn’t work…Should I install new Excel ?
Sandra,
All I can think of is to try unchecking RealStats and reinstalling from the beginning.
Charles
I am a complete newbe to statistics. I had calculated a point-by point agreement but was told to use Kappa.I need to calculate agreement between the observer and myself about, The rate of correct questions answered by three children over 7 observations which is 21 sessions. We had 100% agreement on 19 of the sessions and 83% on the remaining 2.
Please help
Mandy,

Professor Charles Zaiontz thanks for sharing their knowledge … excellent gesture
Thank you very much Charles Zaiontz for developing such a wonderful statistical add-on and am enjoying it for using in my Ph.D analysis!!!!
Thank you so much Profesor. Very very very important and useful.
Thank you so much for the wonderful tool you have created.

Hello,
I am trying to perform a Cox Regression survival analysis, however Cox Regression is not showing up on the list of add ons even though the site says it should be available. Where do I go about finding that?
Thank you!
Kristen,
When you press Ctrl-m you will get the main menu. Choose Survival Analysis from this menu and you will then get access to Cox Regression.
Charles
You also have an error on sheet “SW Table” for the coefficients at n=49 a=13. 0.919 should be 0.0919. No need to post this, just for future releases.
Thanks for finding this typo as well. I will fix this shortly.
Charles
This is fantastic! Thank you for sharing.
Good day Mr Zaiontz,
Thank you to enabling us to access the tool free of cost. I have downloaded the pack, but unfortunately, logistic regression is missing on the list of my ”add in list”. I’m trying to see the relationship between level of satisfaction (yes or no) and family size.
Thank you
Benedict Oni
Benedict,
Select Regression and logistic regression will be one of the options.
Charles
Hi Charles,
Please let me know what versions of Excel and Windows can use your program. I have students that have Windows 10 and Excel 2016 and others with Excel 2013. I also have students that are still running Windows 7 and Windows 8. I also have some students that have MACs that run Excel 2016 and others that run Excel 2013. Do these differences matter or will Real Statistics run on any combination of operating system and version of Excel?
Thanks in advance,
Ken Burger
Ken,
The software will run on Windows 7, 8 and 10 (and probably XP as well). It supports Excel 2007, 2010, 2013 and 2016.
The software will also run on Mac OS, supporting Excel 2011 and 2016 (I don’t believe there is an Excel 2013 version for the Mac, but if there is then the software should support that as well). The Windows version of the software has more capabilities than the Mac version.
Charles
Charles,
Thank you very much for your prompt response. I will download today and check it out.
Ken
It would be great if you could put the Excel version requirements on the home page, as I had trouble finding this info here. I only have Excel 2000 and LibreOffice Calc 5 (2016), neither of which have the modern Excel macro commands.
Sorry about that, Max. I didn’t know that people were still using such old versions of Excel. I support Excel 2002 and beyond.
Charles
Hello sir
I read the comments and complaints alongside your helpful response and I am amazed and for which I say thanks for helping our research students
On my own, I would have loved if you send or work in here for me, a practical model formulation process so that I can easily state my research model properly as I need to know how best to present a model of one dependent and 3 independent variable and how to go about the coding and regression analysis
Thanks so much
You can learn more about building a regression model by going to the https://real-statistics.com/regression-models/ webpage. Most likely you will use a multiple linear regression model, which you can find described on the webpage https://real-statistics.com/multiple-regression/.
Charles
I have downloaded it. Thank you very much. It is excellent.
Hi Dr. Charles. I’ve been using this for my grad and undergrad research classes and its a great big tremendous help. Thanks. Do you have an instructional book or PDF on this? Should you have one, where can I purchase one? thanks so much.
I am pleased that the site/software has been helpful.
I am putting together some books, but they are not ready yet.
Charles
I can’t believe tools like these are free.
Thanks a lot Charles, amazing work.
Hello sir I am getting a message popup”Compilation error in hidden module ” That’s why Logistic regression is not working in my project.Help me and Thanks in advance
Sachin,
If you are using Excel 2007, a likely reason for this is that you need to install the latest service pack, namely SP3.
Otherwise, it is possible that you need to install Excel’s Solver, as described in the next paragraph.
The latest version of the software uses Excel’s Solver, and so you need to make sure that Excel’s Solver is installed. You do this by pressing Alt-TI (i.e. hold down the Alt key and press T and I) and making sure that there is a check mark next to Solver in the dialog box that appears. Then close Excel and reopen Excel.
Charles
Hi Charles,
I did a =VER() and it states 4.5 Excel 2010/2013/2016. I am using Excel 2010.
I am unable to find an option to use Slopestest. I looked under regression but don’tsee any sub-options. Am I missing something?
Thanks,
Jim
Hi Jim,
SlopesTest is currently only available as a function. You use it just like any Excel function. See the following webpage for details:
https://real-statistics.com/regression/hypothesis-testing-significance-regression-line-slope/comparing-slopes-two-independent-samples/
Charles
Dear Charles
I have downloaded and installed Real Statistics Resource Pack, I am using excel 2010
I am not able to find the option Logistic Regression in the list. Please help
The current option coming after the regression is Reliability, no logistic regression option.
Regards
Sharad
Choose the Regression option. Logistic Regression is one of the options on the dialog box that appears.
Charles
Charles, thank you very much for the add-in.
How do you calculate the Probability Density Function (pdf) ?
I understand formula normsdist(z,false) is the one to use; however, in Excel 2007 that does not work – it works without the FALSE argument. If I enter FALSE, or TRUE, I get an error message as the formula is not set up to accept the TRUE or FALSE.
Is it possible to calculate the pdf using your add-in ?
Carlos,
You can use =NORMDIST(x,0,1,FALSE) in Excel 2007.
Excel 2007 also doesn’t provide the pdf for the t distribution. In this case you can use the Real Statistics function T_DIST(x,df,FALSE).
Charles
Dear Chales
Today I have downloaded and add in stat pack to use logistic regression, but the command of logistic regression is not appearing in the command list.
Please help me to find out the way, how to get the logistic regression command.
Regards
Sharad
India
Choose Regression from the main menu (which will appear if you press Ctrl-m) and then choose Logistic Regression from the dialog box that appears.
Charles
Hi Charles,
I downloaded the RealStats pack for Mac. It’s a great product btw. I’ve used it to run Kruskal Wallis test and now want to run a Dunn’s Test as a follow-up. The latest Mac version of RealStats doesn’t seem to have the Dunn’s Test as an option. Is that correct? (Perhaps I need to download an updated version.)
Andrew
Andrew,
That is correct. Sorry, but Dunn’s Test is currently only available on the Windows version of the software.
Charles
Hi, actually i had the programme successfully installed and the application working but when i try to apply Realstats on my excel it gives me this message ”Error compilation with the cache module:Chisquare” … Any idea how to fix this?
Thanks!
Robert,
A few questions to help me isolate the problem:
1. What value do you get when you enter the formula =VER()
2. What version of Windows or Mac are you using?
Charles
I have downloaded a MS Excel AddIns from a website for statistic analysis. There is a link to the downed file that has been saved to the following folder:
=’C:\Users\myname\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\AddIns\RealStats.xlam
However, the actual link in the downloaded software is different and shown below:
=’C:\Users\Charles\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\AddIns\RealStats.xlam’!RANDOMIZE(E4:E23)
when I tried to change Charles in the link back to “myname” I am not allowed to do so.
Please reply and help.
David
David,
If this link is in one of the examples workbook files, then you need to proceed as described on the following webpage:
Examples Installation
Charles
I am using Windows 7 Professional, Service Pack 1 32-bit OS; =Ver() turns out 4.2 Excel 2007
I have downloaded the resource pack. The following problems found:
1. After install, it asked for “RealStats Password”
2. During using chi-square test, “Compile error in hidden module: ChiSquare”
Hi Charles,
I am having problems with using the Stats program. I have downloaded it and it appears on my tool bar but when I try to use it to manipulate data it wont work within the excel spreadsheet. I cant select or enter data etc
I am using a Mac, OS X 10.10.3, Excel 14.5.3 for Mac 2011.
Can you help
Warm regards
Lisa
Hi sir, thank you very much for putting so much effort and share it with everyone who may need it.
I tried to install and use the addins package but it failed. I accidentally click the downloaded file when my Ms Excell was active. A dialog box asking me something about macros and i got suspicious and refer to your installation guidance once again. I then simply closed the dialog box and follow your installation guide. The installation seemed flawless but no operation nor analysis were successful everything turned out “compile error in hidden module analysis”. When I typed =ver() it turned 4.2 Excel 2007 and I believe i downloaded the right package. My wondows is windows vista servce pack 2, 32 bit. Please suggest me what to do.
Ahmed,
Were you using a previous version of the software or is this the first version that you have installed?
Charles
thank you for the free download. may God gives you hale and healthy.
Hi. I downloaded the version and the installation went fine but my excel is in portuguese, so it appears a compilation error for me. Now, I cant even uninstall the .xlam supplement. How do I uninstall it? And how can I get a portuguese version? (assuming that the error is because of the language)
Gabriel,
The version that you downloaded has worked in German, Italian, Spanish and several other languages. There appears to be a large user population in Brazil, and so it probably also supports Portuguese.
Uninstall is similar to Install. Assuming that you are using Windows, press Alt-TI and unclick RealStats from the dialog box that appears and press the Close button. That’s all you need to do.
Charles
Hello Charles,
I am trying to download the RealStats onto my laptop. I am using Excel 2015….it let me download, but when I went to to Excel–File—Option, RealStat was not there all the other add-ins were there. Could you please help me out?
Mesha,
I assume that you are using Excel 2013 and not Excel 2015. Please see the latest Blog which seems to be related to this issue. Please let me know if the suggested approach doesn’t resolve your issue.
Charles
excel packages are simple, effective and learner-friendly- lal
Currently working on my BA, first time doing empirical research and it’s a real help using your website. However, I downloaded your Real Statistics Resource Pack but keep running into error messages. I installed it and can open the console via Strg + m. However, if I try to actually active the formulas (e.g. the correlation matrix) I always receive an error saying (roughly, it’s in German):
2Compiler error in the module: frmMatrix
This error generally occurs if code is not compatible with the used version, platform or architecture.”
I’m using Office 365 Home, if that matters. Any idea what might be the issue?
Jakob,
I don’t know what is causing this problem. I know that some other people have experienced similiar problems, but the software seems to run fine for most people.
Do use see the version number when you enter =VER() in any cell in a worksheet? (if not the installation was not performed correctly) Are you by any chance running the 64 bit version of Excel? (select File > Help to find out) Are you able to get the software working on some other computer?
Charles
The =VER() command works, showing me Version 3.5.2. I’m using the 32bit Excel, so that can’t be it. I don’t have another machine available currently to test your last question.
Sorry, there’s no option to edit a post: I’m also being asked (sometimes) to enter a password and if I activate/deactivate the AddIn I receive an error message saying something like:
Microsoft Visual Basic for Applications
“Project or library not found.”
Jakob,
You should never need to enter a password. Since the formula =VER() works properly I am very surprised to see that you are getting a message to enter a password.
I have just put a new version of the software online (Release 3.6). I suggest that you delete the software from your computer and install the latest version. Let’s see whether this eliminates the problem.
Charles
Many thanks for this software help! Definitely comes in handy with my position!!
Thanks for making it available for our use. it is very useful and simple.
Dear Charles,
I have successfully downloaded the software, and the functions appear in excel, they don’t seem to work. Can you help me with this problem?
Sincerely,
David Fuzes
David,
Can you give me some examples of functions that don’t work? Please provide the name of the function and the arguments used. Do some functions work and other don’t? What happens when you use the function =VER()
Charles
Been continuously asked about RealStat password. Help! 🙁
I have OS Win8
Cathrine,
You don’t need to supply a password. This request usually means that you are trying to open the file containing the Real Statistics Resource Pack. You shouldn’t do this.
What you need to do is install the file, i.e. make sure that Excel recognizes the file as an add-in containing software. To do this follow the Installation instructions on the webpage https://real-statistics.com/free-download/real-statistics-resource-pack/.
