Resolve error when choosing any option from main dialog box

When I press Ctrl-m to open the main dialog no matter which option I choose I get a 404 error message. How can I fix this?

Here is the valuable suggestion from Greg:

My version of Office is 2024 LTSC. The LTSC version has ActiveX controls off by default. The fix is to go to Options..Trust Center.. Trust Center Settings..ActiveX Settings, then choose one of the options other than Disable All Controls without Notification.

Here is an additional comment from Stewart:

If you click the third option down on ActiveX controls in Trust Center AND you uncheck Safe Mode, it’ll work.

  1. I am also having this issue, and it’s new. I’ve been using RealStats for years at this point. I’m encountering it on multiple devices, too. I do have the add-ins folder as a trusted location already and I’ve tried re-installing it. No joy- still getting a 424 runtime error after I choose a test. version of Excel is:
9.5.5 Excel 2010/2013/2016/2019/2021/2024/365 Windows with descriptors

Thanks in advance for any thoughts on a fix.

      • I also tried the troubleshooting section and still continue to get the run time error 424.

When I place =VER() in a cell I get this:

9.5.5 Excel 2010/2013/2016/2019/2021/2024/365 Windows with descriptors

Please let me know what I can do to get this problem fixed.

        • Hello Benji,
Sorry to hear about the troubles you are having with the various Excel error messages.
If you have tried the approach on this webpage and the one on the Troubleshooting section of the webpage from where you downloaded the Real Statistics software, I suggest that you download the other version of the software, i.e. the version for Windows without descriptors and install that version. Before using the new version, uncheck the version from the dialog box that you open by pressing the key sequence Alt-TI.

    • Hello Matthew,
Usually, either the resolution described on this webpage is appropriate or changing the trust setting as described in the Troubleshooting section on the webpage from where you downloaded the Real Statistics software.
What do you see when you enter the formula =VER() in any cell?

      • Hi Charles, I also got the Microsoft Visual Basic pop-up window stating Error 424 Object Required when trying to load the goodness of fit application. When I put =VER() into a blank spreadsheet cell, it gave me “9.5.5 Excel 2010/2013/2016/2019/2021/2024/365 Windows with descriptors,” and it also gave the error in a workbook with data in the sheet. This is the Error 424 page for VBA on the Microsoft site: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/office/vba/language/reference/user-interface-help/object-required-error-424
I hope it can be fixed relatively easy! I’m looking forward to working with your great-looking toolset!

I’ve changed the Trust settings as advised elsewhere, but still got the error.
