Recently some people using the Windows version of Excel have found that when starting (or restarting) Real Statistics, they receive a message that Excel has a problem running both Real Statistics and Solver. Since Real Statistics requires the activation of Solver, this is a problem.
Here is a solution suggested by Christian:
The conflict appears because, in the latest update(s) of Excel 365, add-ins are uploaded in alphabetic order (as they appear in the “Add-ins” list with the checkboxes). If you rename “Realstats” e.g. to “XRealstats” it will be uploaded after Solver and no problem occurs.
If you have never installed Real Statistics on your computer, then please follow the installation instructions shown on the webpage from where you downloaded the software file. When you follow the instructions correctly, you should not see any conflict between Real Statistics and Solver.
If you already have Real Statistics installed on your computer, then I suggest that you download and install the latest version of the software. This file will be named XRealStats.xlam. You will need to reinstall the software from scratch and can’t simply substitute the old file with the new file. The installation steps are:
- Move the Resource Pack to where you want it located on your computer
- Open Excel, but don’t try to open the XRealStats.xlam file
- Press the Alt-TI key sequence (i.e. hold the Alt key down and simultaneously press T followed by I). A dialog box will appear with a list of add-ins.
- Uncheck the Realstats option (since this will no longer be used)
- Click on the Browse button and locate the XRealStats.xlam file.
- The XRealstats option should now appear on the list of add-ins (in the dialog box that was displayed in step 3). Check the XRealstats option and click on the OK button.
