Approach
In many languages, people use a comma instead of a period for the decimal symbol. We make three suggestions for how to deal with this when entering a decimal value in a field (usually the Alpha field) in the dialog box of one of the Real Statistics data analysis tools.
(a) use Microsoft configuration capabilities to change the decimal symbol to a period as in English (probably not the best solution for most people).
(b) use Real Statistics’ configuration capability to specify that you want to use a percentage instead of a decimal number for certain inputs (especially to specify the alpha value).
This is done from the main Real Statistics dialog box (the one that comes up when you press Ctrl-m or when you select RealStats from the Add-Ins ribbon). Then click on the Config button to bring up the Configuration dialog box. Next, select the Use Percentage option and click on the OK button.
Finally, instead of entering 0.05 or 0,05, you should just enter 5 (to represent 5%) in the Alpha field on any of the dialog boxes that require an alpha value. Similarly, you should enter 1 instead of 0,01.
(c) just enter the number 0 in the Alpha field in any dialog box that requires an alpha value. In the output, this will usually result in an error, but this is easily fixed by replacing the 0 value for Alpha in the output with 0,05 (or whatever value you want).
Note
This approach is only required for fields in the dialog boxes. If your version of Excel uses commas as the decimal symbol, you don’t need to do anything with decimal values found in cells on a spreadsheet.
